5 Essential Tips to Help You Lose Fat

5 Essential Tips to Lose Fat - Supremegains.comYou slave at the gym by working-out so hard, lift various weights, sweat like a pig, run for miles in the treadmill, and still after all of that, you don’t see a difference in weight.  You eat clean (or so you think) and you still can’t shed those extra pounds.  Well I’m here to tell you that you’re probably doing what you need to do, except you might be missing a few key points:

1) Torch fat by knowing your total caloric expenditure

supremegains.comYour total caloric expenditure is the number of calories your body needs to function daily.  It’s more than just working-out hard and getting adequate rest between workout days.  You also have to feed your body constantly, and at regular intervals, especially if you’re highly active.  In order to do so, follow the next tip…

2) Eat smaller meals throughout the day

supremegains.comOK, no surprise here.  I’m sure you’ve heard this a million times before; but how do you know if you’re eating too much or too little?  What are smaller meals exactly?  They say size your meals by using the palm of your hand.  Others use cups or food scales to weigh macros. If you don’t want to count calories, then “portioning” your meals is a suitable alternative as well.

You shouldn’t have to go through all that though, if you want to be more efficient.  Save time and money by judging what’s on your plate.  If it’s full of food, then you may be putting too much.  If it’s too few, then you may not be eating enough. Of course this would depend on how large your plate is too.  Also, by just feeling how heavy your food platter is, you can already judge how much additional weight you’ll be adding to your body.

Additionally, you want to choose food that is considered to be “clean.” More on this on a future post.  But if your diet is not “clean,” it wouldn’t matter how much (or how little) you eat.  You won’t see a difference.

3) Know how many calories you need to burn fat

supremegains.comThis will take a little more thought than physical strength to figure this out.  But I assure you, it’s not difficult.  Take a look at this resource to figure- out how many calories you need to maintain your weight or burn fat.  As a general rule, if you want to torch 1 pound of fat, then you’ll need to burn 3500 calories.

4) Sugar is the enemy…not fat!

supremegains.comA common misconception is that in order to lose fat, one must be on a low-fat or even worse, a non-fat diet.

Well guess what?

Most products with the “low-fat” or “non-fat” labels are actually loaded with excess sugar (or “fake” sugar) to add the taste lost from fat.  And when there’s excess sugar processed in the body, some of it may be used as fuel, but the remainder will be stored as fat instead.  This is also true, if you eat too much fat.  Generally, you want to balance your sugar and fat ratio, if you want to maintain or lose weight.

5) Generate a plan and stick to it

supremegains.comProbably the greatest challenge to lose fat, is to create a routine and turning it into a habit.  This is one habit you want to consistently be doing though because if not, you’ll fall prey to how you were before.

Believe me, I know.

Losing fat or losing weight is a long-term fix.  Although it’s possible to see results and feel a positive difference in say, three months, it’s really a short-term solution to a life-long problem, if you don’t stick to your plan either.

So if you’ve been working your butt-off, been eating the right food and still can’t shed that weight, take a step back and review these tips.  More likely, one or two of these pointers were amiss during your fat loss process and may adversely affect your goals as a result.
